An offline D&D app for your bard, with no account
BardRoll is an offline D&D app for bards after the first load: choose to play on this device and it downloads what it needs a single time. No account is needed. Up to 5 bards live in this browser only, so clearing its site data deletes them, and signing in later copies them to an account.

Does BardRoll work without internet?
Yes, after the first load. Choosing to play on this device downloads the app's pages, fonts, art and spell text a single time, and from then on it opens and plays with no signal. The first visit needs a connection, and so does signing in with Google later; nothing else does.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Play on this device and there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to agree to first. Your bards are stored in this browser, on this phone, and none of it is sent to BardRoll's servers. The comparison sets both ways to play side by side, with the cost of each.
What happens to my bards if I clear site data?
They are gone. Clearing this browser's site data deletes every bard stored on this device, and there is no backup, because nothing was ever sent anywhere. A different browser or phone starts empty for the same reason. Up to 5 bards fit on one device; past that, the app offers an account rather than taking on more than it can protect.
Can I move my bards to an account later?
Yes, once. Signing in with Google from device mode copies this device's bards into your account, side by side with any already there, and nothing is overwritten. After that they stay apart: there is no sync between the device copy and the account, so changes made on the device stay on the device.
Questions
- Is playing on this device a trial version?
- No. Playing on this device is the same app as playing with an account: the same spells, slots, Bardic Inspiration, instruments and rolls. They differ only in where your bards live. With an account they follow you between devices and survive a cleared cache; on a device they stay in one browser and need no sign-in.
- Why is a device limited to 5 bards?
- Because a device copy has no backup. 5 bards is a troupe; more than that is a campaign you would be sorry to lose to a cleared cache, so the app stops there and offers an account instead. An account keeps its bards on a server, where clearing a browser cannot touch them, and brings them to your other devices.
