D&D bard rules, each answered with a table

D&D bard rules for the 2024 edition come down to a few tables: spell slots by level, the Bardic Inspiration die, Magical Secrets and the bard spell list. Each solution page answers one question in its first paragraph, then prints the table from the same rules code BardRoll runs, so the page and the app agree.

  • Bard spell slots

The 2024 bard spell slot table for all 20 levels; level 9 slots arrive at character level 17.

  • Bardic Inspiration

The Bardic Inspiration die for every bard level, uses by Charisma modifier, and when the uses come back.

  • Bard instruments

All 10 instruments from the 2024 rules, each playable at the same roll so you hear the timbre and nothing else.

  • Magical Secrets

How many cleric, druid and wizard spells a bard can hold from level 10, and what a College of Lore bard gets at 6.

  • Offline D&D app

Play on your phone with no account: it works offline after the first load and keeps your bards in this browser.

  • Bard spell list

The 130 spells on the SRD 5.2.1 bard list by level, with the cantrips and prepared spells a bard has at each level.

Which bard rules does BardRoll answer?

The spell slot table for every bard level up to 20, the Bardic Inspiration die with its uses and rests, the Magical Secrets allowance from level 10, and the 130 spells on the SRD 5.2.1 bard list with their schools. The instrument page plays all 10 instruments a bard can carry, and the offline page covers playing on a phone with no account.

Where do these numbers come from?

From the System Reference Document 5.2.1, the part of the 2024 rules that Wizards of the Coast publish under an open licence. BardRoll transcribes its bard tables into the functions that limit what a bard can prepare and cast, and the tables on these pages are computed from those functions when the site is built. Nothing is typed in by hand, so a correction to the rules code corrects the page as well.
